Is CBS All Access not working with your current VPN? The reason it’s stopped working is because CBS has blocked your VPN’s IP address (more on this below). Continue reading to find the easy workaround.

CBS All Access not working with VPN: Quick Guide
If your VPN has stopped working with CBS All Access you’ve got two options. The first is simple, try a different server using the same VPN. The second option is to upgrade your VPN to a provider that unblocks CBS – and other high-end streaming services.
I recommend using Express VPN ($6.66/Month) or Ivacy ($2.25/month). I’ve tested dozens of VPNs over the past three years and these are two of the best providers out there. See below for more details about the two services.
CBS not working with VPN? Here’s how to fix that (step-by-step)
- Try using a different server with your current VPN
- If that doesn’t work you need to upgrade your VPN
- Get Express VPN ($6.66/Month) or Ivacy ($2.25/month)
- Download and install the app on your device
- Connect to a server in the US (or dedicated CBS server)
- Watch CBS from anywhere in the world
Does CBS All Access still work with VPNs?
Yes. You can still use a VPN to watch CBS from anywhere in the world. However, not all VPNs work with CBS in 2020.
If you are using PIA, PureVPN, IPVanish, Buffered, Tunnelbear, Windscribe, Hotspot Shield Free, Speedify, Hide.me or SurfEasy, or any low-end VPN not listed below you may have issues.
This is because CBS has started detecting and blocking some VPN’s from streaming its content. Read below to find out more.
Why does CBS block VPNs?
Netflix started a trend when, in 2016, it announced that it would start blocking access to users VPNs connecting via a VPN.
The rationale was fair enough, Netflix customers from all over the world were using VPNs to access the much biggest US library and this was causing Netflix problems with its international licensing.
Since then, more and more online broadcasters have followed Netflix’s lead. Fast-forward to 2020 and every online streaming service now blocks VPNs for similar reasons.
How is CBS All Access detecting my VPN?
CBS can’t tell if you’re using a VPN or not. However, it does monitor the IP addresses its users connect via.
When CBS detects an abnormal number of user accounts connecting via the same IP address – a unique situation that only VPN servers create – its technical team will blacklist the offending IP address.
CBS All Access not working with VPN? How to fix
The good news is that there are several VPNs that are able to beat CBS’s ban. The way they do this is by playing a game of Cat and Mouse with CBS – when one of its server’s IP addresses is blacklisted, it shuts that IP address and opens a new (undetected) one.
This very simple technique keeps the high-end VPNs one-step ahead of the broadcasters. However, the process is time-consuming and costly (to the VPN). Which is why only a handful of VPNs (see below) still work with CBS.
If you want the best service and can afford the slightly higher price, I advise you to choose Express VPN ($6.66/month) – its the fastest and most reliable VPN on the market by a clear distance.
If you want to spend a bit less, but still want a VPN that’s reliable and lets you watch CBS from anywhere in the world, I suggest taking a look at Ivacy ($2.25/month). What I like about Ivacy’s setup is that it has dedicated CBS servers that customers can quickly connect to.
Best VPN for CBS All Access?
I recommend using one of the three VPN providers below to consistently connect to CBS All Access. Other VPNs may also work (sometimes) but the three below have been verified and speed tested. They also have very good customer support if you have any issues.
ExpressVPN is at the top of this list because it is the best VPN on the market. If you can afford to pay a little more, you will not regret it.
This VPN is extremely fast. When we performed our independent VPN speed tests, it was consistently at the top with great download/upload speeds. There are ALWAYS open servers for major streaming sites such as Netflix, HBO Go, Hulu and CBS All Access.
ExpressVPN is the best at playing Cat and Mouse with streaming sites. If an IP address is blacklisted, a new one is created. This is why there are a constant number of servers available that work with CBS All Access.
This VPN is easy to use and simple. You can get it on nearly all devices. Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Firestick, Android TV, Roku, PS4, Xbox, Linux and much more.
ExpressVPN is different from its competitors. Its software prioritises user management by having the customer choose their location rather than an individual server. Once you choose your location the app does the rest. A fast server that isn’t overused is assigned to you and this server will perform at lightning-fast speeds. This software is great because it prevents IP addresses from being blacklisted in the first place.
ExpressVPN is slightly more expensive than the other VPNs on this list. But if you can spare the extra money, you won’t be let down.
Ivacy is a great low-cost VPN. It has everything you need to stream CBS All Access while outside of the US.
It’s not as reliable, or as fast as ExpressVPN. But if all you need is a quick and cheap way to watch CBS outside of the States, Ivacy is a great choice.
Ivacy also provides an option to buy a dedicated IP address ($1.99/month.) This means you will be the only customer that is able to use the IP address located in the country of your choice. This means that the IP address will never get blacklisted by CBS.
NordVPN is very good for streaming CBS All Access abroad.
NordVPN have a technical team that monitor their server connections with popular streaming services.
CBS All Access is included in their watchlist. NordVPN prioritises staying ahead of CBS, making sure that their servers and IP addresses do not get blacklisted and stay open.
NordVPN has a large number of servers in the USA at 1900+. They provide even more around the world.
