How to Download Hulu on Apple TV (from outside US).

The first part of the process is really easy. Hulu is a TV streaming service that’s only available in the US. This means you need to have a US Apple ID registered on your Apple TV In order to download the official Hulu app.

Fortunately, creating a US Apple ID is really easy, and totally free. All you need to do is go to appleid.apple.com/account and follow your nose.

Note that you’ll be asked for your US address and Zip code, if you’re not a US resident then you’ll have to use a friend’s address, or get creative here. (Apple doesn’t check the address you’ve entered is genuine, or share this info with third parties.)

Once you have created your new US Apple account, you need to add it to your Apple TV. You can do this by navigating to Settings > Users and Accounts > Add New User.

Fortunately, Apple TV lets you host multiple users on your device. This is great news for anyone who is trying to access Hulu from outside the US, as it allows you to keep your apps from your native country (from your primary profile) but also load the best apps from other country’s App Stores too.

How to spoof your location on Apple TV to watch Hulu

Apple TV doesn’t support VPNs, which is annoying, becuase for every other device – laptop, smartphone, Fire TV stick, iPad – you can stream Hulu by downloading a good VPN app and connecting to a US server.

If you want to spoof your location – to unblock Hulu – on your Apple TV I recommend using Smart DNS Proxy (14-day free trial).

Smart DNS Proxy also works with BBC iPlayer, US Netflix, Amazon Prime, ITV hub and literally hundreds of other streaming websites.

Smart DNS Proxy also lets you configure which IP location gets served to a specific website. This means you can easily set up your DNS to serve a US IP to Hulu and Netflix while serving a UK IP address to BBC iPlayer – you can even configure it to serve a Saudi Arabian IP for BeIN Sports. All you need to do is change your DNS settings once.

Like any DNS or VPN service, the real value Smart DNS Proxy provides is its uptime with streaming sites. This is the best DNS for providing its users for working IPs with Hulu.

There’s also a generous 14-day free trial, and you don’t even need to enter your credit card details, so you can test the server before deciding whether you want to pay $5/month.

  1. Go to Smart DNS Proxy and register for a 14-day free trial (then $4.90/month)
  2. Activate your real IP address via the Account Home page
  3. Make a note of your nearest server addresses from www.smartdnsproxy.com/servers
  4. Go to Apple TV Settings > General > Network > Wifi/Ethernet > Click on your network > Configure DNS > Manual > Enter your DNS
  5. Enter the DNS address from step three
  6. Restart Apple TV
  7. Watch Hulu from outside the US on Apple TV
