I’ve been using a VPN to watch 10Play outside Australia for a while now, and for the most part it’s worked well. However, recently I’ve been running into a recurring error:

“Looks like you’re using an ad blocker!”

It seems to be that 10Play is recognising I’m using a VPN and is blocking it. I’ve made sure all my ad blockers are turned off, but whenever I connect to an Australian server on my VPN and try to access 10Play I run into this error.

This is frustrating as it was working fine but now it’s not, but I managed to diagnose the problem and fix it. Here’s how I did it.

10Play not working with VPN

How I fixed 10Play not working with VPN

  1. Change Server

Despite what a lot of other websites will tell you, there isn’t a whole lot you can do when your VPN stops working with 10Play. The only real solution is to change to a different server. This will give you a different IP address and if that one hasn’t been blocked, your VPN will hopefully work with 10Play again.

Always try and connect to a server in a location that you think will have less customers. For example, if you’re connecting to an Australian server, opt for Adelaide instead of Sydney. This will reduce the chances of sharing the IP address with other customers and will make it harder for 10Play to block your connection.

Nine times out of ten, changing server fixes the issue for me, but if it doesn’t it could mean all the IP addresses your VPN can provide have been blocked by 10Play. From here there’s two things you can do, use a different VPN with different IP addresses or wait for your VPN to fix the problem.
  2. Use a different VPN

I live in New Zealand. We don’t get a lot of content that other countries get, so I’m constantly using a VPN. Because of this I always want to increase my chances of being able to watch streaming services like 10Play, so I subscribe to two VPNs.

Since doing this I haven’t had any problems watching 10Play. If one VPN isn’t working, I change to the other one. This allows me to watch 10Play reliably. The VPNs I use are NordVPN and ExpressVPN. I managed to get deals on them here and here.

However, understandably you may not want to subscribe to two VPNs. If you are going to use just one, I couldn’t recommend NordVPN and ExpressVPN more. In my opinion they’re the best VPNs in the business and they’ll allow you to watch 10Play reliably anywhere in the world.
