As a New Zealander, I get access to more content on Disney+ than a lot of countries, but a lot less than others. As of 2022, I can access 2,440 titles on Disney+, Australia can access 2,456 and India can access a whopping 3,729. The numbers have only risen since.
I’ve been using a VPN to access Disney+ from other countries to watch specific shows and movies however I’ve recently been running into a couple of errors, “Disney+ is not available in your location” and “we’re sorry, but we cannot play the video you requested.”
The good news is, after going through a range of different steps, I was able to eventually fix these issues and use Disney+ with my VPN again. Here’s what I did to fix Disney+ not working with VPN.

How I fixed Disney+ not working with VPN
When any streaming service stops working with my VPN, not just Disney+, I always go through the same processes and steps to get my VPN working again. Any one of these could resolve the problem, and by going through them all, I cover all my bases.
- Change to a different server on your VPN
The very first thing I do is change to another server on my VPN. A good rule of thumb to follow is try connecting to a server in a smaller location. For example, if you’re trying to access the US Disney+, connect to a server in Dallas, instead of New York or California - Check if my VPN works on a different device
If changing to a different server doesn’t work, I always try and diagnose whether it’s my VPN that’s causing issues, or the device I’m using. To do that, I test my VPN on a different device. For example, if Disney+ isn’t working with my VPN on my TV, I try it on my phone or computer. If it does work, I know it’s my TV that’s causing the issue, if it doesn’t, I know it’s the VPN that’s having problems. - Update or reinstall my VPN
If I have figured out that my VPN is having issues working with Disney+, I make sure that I have the latest version of the software. To do that I check for any updates and install them. If there aren’t any updates available, I reinstall the software.
For me, I was able to fix Disney+ not working with my VPN, simply by changing to a different server. This will probably fix the issue for you, however if none of the above fix’s work, the only thing I can recommend is trying a different VPN.
