You’re on a mission to find a product to sell to kickstart your business and you’re in need of supply. Where do you turn to? Alibaba.com, of course! And you’re going to need an account to make the most out of it.
Alibaba is arguably the go-to destination when it comes to finding a supplier offering quality products in bulk at low prices. It may take time to find the best prices for your product of choice, and it pays to stay safe when searching, but the benefits of using Alibaba.com to sell a trendy product through Amazon FBA are to pass up.
Prepared to start contacting and requesting quotes from suppliers? Well, to do any of that, you’re going to need an Alibaba account. Fortunately, it’s extremely simple to do – and you won’t have to pay a dime.
We recommend first finding a niche product to sell using Amazon seller software such as AMZScout or Jungle Scout, along with searching for the best keywords to help make your product shine and making sure you stay safe on Alibaba. Otherwise, here’s how to set up an account on Alibaba.

How to set up an account on Alibaba
Creating an account on Alibaba.com is fairly straightforward, and you can even use your LinkedIn, Google, Facebook or Twitter account to help sign you up. We recommend making your own account from scratch, and we’ll show you how to do just that below.
1. Head to https://www.alibaba.com/.
2. On the top bar of the website’s homepage, hover over the “person” icon. Click Join for free.

3. You’ll see a registration page. Fill in your details, slide the “Verify” slider, agree to the terms and select Agree and Register.

4. You’ll be asked to verify your email. Use the verification code sent to your email and hit Submit.

5. There you have it! You’re now registered and have an Alibaba account.
Alibaba Buyers Club
Alibaba.com also has a Buyers Club, which offers different levels with increasingly better benefits. They range from Standard to Pro Buyer, and you can earn points to upgrade.
To earn points, you can verify your business, spend over $300,000 in a year (that’s no joke), place orders and simply visit the site on a daily basis.
Buyers with a new account are placed at Standard, which offers quick refunds on order under $500. That’s about the only benefit you’ll get, while Silver, Gold, Platinum and Pro Buyer delivers refunds of up to $1,000.
That’s not all. Benefits for higher tiers also includes a $10 discount with new suppliers, up to 50% off with member prices, 90% off samples, 60-day order protection and even Alibaba.com’s very own fulfillment service.
If you’re just starting out, it may take a while to build up enough points. However, the main goal here is to have an account to reach out to suppliers. Besides, you can count on Amazon FBA centres to store your stock, and a few discounts here and there are only a few minor bonuses.
