NordVPN not working with Aha

If you’ve been watching Aha with NordVPN and it has stopped working, the streaming service has managed to identify you’re using a VPN and has blocked the connection.

The reason this has happened is because Aha constantly monitors for connections coming through from VPNs and tries to block them.

This can be frustrating as if Aha is no longer working with NordVPN, then NordVPN is no longer able to stay ahead of Aha’s blocks.

The good news is there’s a number of fixes you can try to resolve this issue.

This article will explain how to fix NordVPN not working with Aha so you can get back to watching your favourite content again anywhere in the world.

NordVPN not working with Aha: Fixes

To fix NordVPN not working with Aha, perform these steps in order.

If one doesn’t work, move on to the next until you can watch Aha with a VPN again.

  1. Delete Cookies

    Cookies 1

Cookies are small files used by websites and apps to make your online experience better and more streamlined. As an example, Aha uses them, so you don’t have to repeatedly log in to the streaming service.

The issue with these files is sometimes they contain information about your physical location.

Aha can potentially access this information and figure out where you’re physically located. If this information shows you’re outside Aha’s broadcast zone, India, it will block your connection.

A good place to start when trying to fix NordVPN not working with Aha is deleting your Cookies.

  2. Change to a different protocol

    NordProtocols scaled

VPN protocols determine how your online data is rerouted through the VPN servers. Some are faster than others, while some are more secure.

NordVPN might not be working with Aha because the protocol you’ve selected is no longer compatible with the streaming service.

NordVPN supports multiple protocols. We recommend using NordLynx to see if that fixes the issue.

  3. Update/reinstall NordVPN

    VPN update

It’s always a good idea to keep NordVPN updated.

The reason for this is because the issue you’re coming across might be known to NordVPN and it may have fixed it in an update or patch.

Updating NordVPN to the latest version will ensure you’ve acquired these sorts of fixes. And if so, Aha will work with NordVPN again.

You can also reinstall NordVPN to ensure you get rid of any errors or bugs that may have arisen, and then install the latest version of the software.

  4. Upgrade to a VPN that is compatible with Aha

    ExpressVPN Rank

If the above steps don’t fix NordVPN not working with Aha, you need to upgrade to a better VPN.

The reason NordVPN isn’t working with Aha is because it doesn’t have measures in place to stay ahead of Aha’s VPN blocking techniques or because NordVPN no longer has Indian servers for you to connect to.

One of the best VPNs for getting around Aha’s blocks is ExpressVPN ($6.67/month).

Although highly unlikely, if an IP address provided by this VPN is blocked by Aha, ExpressVPN ($6.67/month) will close that IP address and open a new one.

This means you won’t run into the same issues watching Aha as you have with NordVPN. And you’ll be able to watch Aha anywhere in the world reliably. Also, ExpressVPN has a number of virtual Indian servers for you to connect to.

Why isn’t NordVPN working with Aha?

The reason NordVPN isn’t working with Aha is because the streaming service has blocked all the IP addresses NordVPN can currently provide.

It does this to protect itself from potential licensing disputes that may arise when someone connects to Aha using an IP address provided by NordVPN.

Because NordVPN allows customers to watch Aha outside India, Aha tries to block it. It does this because Aha only has the rights to broadcast its content in India.

Using a VPN to watch Aha outside India could result in a breach of content licensing agreements already in place with other streaming services. If this happens, Aha would be liable and would face severe fines.

Obviously, Aha doesn’t want this to happen, so it tries to block VPNs from accessing its service.

Usually, NordVPN works reliably with Aha however, if it has stopped working, Aha has managed to block all of NordVPN’s IP addresses, which is why you’re running into issues watching the streaming service with NordVPN.

NordVPN not working with Aha

How does Aha block NordVPN?

Because NordVPN is a popular VPN, it has a lot of customers. So much so that it can’t provide each customer with their own dedicated IP address.

In order for NordVPN to be financially viable it needs to force its customers to share IP addresses.

Aha knows this, and subsequently monitors every connection that comes through to its platform. It does this because it’s looking for an abnormal number of connections coming from the same IP address.

When NordVPN forces its customers to share IP addresses, it means hundreds or even thousands of users will connect to Aha via the same IP. This is easily spotted by the streaming service, and when this happens, it blocks that IP address.

Usually, NordVPN can get around these blocks. However, if it has stopped working with Aha, the streaming service has managed to identify and block all the IP addresses NordVPN can currently provide.

Does Aha still work with VPNs?

Yes, Aha still works with VPNs however you need to use a VPN that can get around Aha’s VPN-blocking methods.

To do this, the VPN needs to be fast, needs to be secure, and it needs to have measures that are currently working to ensure it stays one step ahead of Aha’s VPN blocks.

The best VPN for this is ExpressVPN ($6.66/month). I’ve been using ExpressVPN ($6.66/month) to watch Aha reliably outside India, and I have never come across any issues.

A lot of VPNs don’t have Indian servers as VPNs are a legal gray area in that country, however ExpressVPN ($6.66/month)has several fast servers based in India. It’s incredibly secure, and it has reliable measures in place that ensure it works reliably with Aha.

These measures will ensure you can watch Aha anywhere in the world, and you won’t come across the same issues you’ve run into with NordVPN.

ExpressVPN ($6.66/month) is still the best VPN. And importantly, it ALWAYS has servers that are open with major streaming sites such as Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Hulu, Disney+, HBO Max, Paramount+, Amazon Prime Video, etc.

ExpressVPN is usually very good at playing Cat and Mouse with online streaming sites. Meaning, whenever one of its servers is blacklisted it creates a new one – giving its users a constant stream of servers that aren’t blocked. Needless to say, this is a valuable attribute if you’re looking for a VPN to unblock streaming sites.

Its app is easy-to-use and free to download on pretty much any device you can think of. Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, FireStick, Android TV, Roku, PS4, Xbox, Linux, even Apple TV (with a workaround). It’s got it all covered.

The app is another main reason this VPN is so good at unblocking TV streaming sites (that claim they block VPNs) is that its software takes a pragmatic approach to user management. While other VPNs tempt customers by promising them access to hundreds/thousands of servers in multiple countries, ExpressVPN does things differently.

With ExpressVPN you only have a handful of server locations to choose from. Once you select your location the app takes care of the rest. Assigning you to the fastest available server that’s not oversubscribed. This simple technique is so important, as it keeps ExpressVPN’s servers operating at lightning-fast speeds and prevents its IPs from getting blacklisted for “abnormal” usage in the first place.

If you’re looking for an excellent VPN, with an even better price tag, Ivacy ($1.16/month) is a great option.

This VPN has all the features you need to stream BBC iPlayer, in HD, from any country in the world. I’ve been testing the app recently on Mac, PC, Android, iOS and FireStick and the results have been impressive – unlocking BBC iPlayer, US Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, etc. with ease.

The Ivacy app is a little different in regards to its UX (user experience). Instead of just selecting a UK server, you need to select the specific BBC iPlayer server. Don’t worry, this isn’t a bad thing – by connecting to a dedicated BBC iPlayer server, it simply means that you’re connecting to an IP address that Ivacy knows works with BBC iPlayer.

For an extra $1.99/month (£1.74) you can add-on a dedicated IP. This will buy you sole access to an IP address in a country of your choice, meaning you won’t have to share your IP (and speeds) with any other use. I don’t recommend this though, using the regular Ivacy servers is enough 95 per cent of the time.

CyberGhost is one of the more established VPNs on the market. It has a well-established, and well-tested global network of servers that perform well.

From my tests over the past several months, CyberGhost has no trouble at unblocking major streaming services – US Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Hulu, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max etc. This VPN performed well at maintaining download speeds, well above 65 per cent of my regular (non VPN) ISP speed.

That said, there’s nothing really unique about the service. Which forces you to look at its price-point. And there’s nothing special here. Its short-term $12.99/month price tag puts is well above the industry average of $10.10/month. Similarly, its long-term $2.75/month for 3 years deal isn’t much of a “deal” either.

Oddly, CyberGhost’s most unique feature is its a 1-day, no obligations, free trial. This is an appealing offer to customers who are new to VPNs. However, it’s important to remember that most reputable VPNs will offer customers a 30-day money-back guarantee, so try not to be too seduced by the offer.

Is watching Aha with a VPN legal?

Yes, streaming Aha with a VPN is legal, so long as you aren’t in a country where using a VPN is prohibited. Currently, China, Russia, Iran, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, North Korea, Iraq, Belarus, Turkmenistan, Egypt, Eritrea, Seychelles, Suriname, Namibia, Slovenia, Nicaragua and Tajikistan are the countries that heavily restrict or outright prohibit VPNs.

So long as you aren’t in one of these countries using a VPN with Aha is legal, however you should know that using a VPN does go against Aha’s terms and conditions.

When you sign up to Aha you automatically agree to the terms and conditions. This is a contractual agreement that outlines the conditions and rights you have when using Aha. In here it says “Thus, Arha may use technologies and methods to verify Your geographic location in order to effectively render the Services to You. You will not use any technology, technique (including impersonation), or other methods to change, obscure, disguise, or mislead Your location to Arha.”

What this means is, if you’re using a VPN to watch Aha outside India, you’re going against the terms of service and Aha is within its rights to ban your account for doing so.

However, given the wide-spread use of VPNs, plus the many legitimate and legal use cases for VPNs, it’s fair to suggest that banning customers for using a VPN would be an extremely costly policy for Aha to enforce.

In theory, if you’re trying to watch Aha outside India, you risk having your account banned. However, as the best VPNs use military-grade encryption, it’s impossible for Aha to trace where you’re physically accessing its content from.

There’s also one final thing to note on the subject: Aha has never banned anyone for using a VPN to access its service.
