Finether Running Machine review: Running

There are two obvious limitations with the Finether Running Machine. The 600W electric motor is only capable of reaching a top speed of 10KPH* and is suitable for people who weight less than 100kg (15.74 stone).

*10 KPH will give you the following times. 5k 30mins; 10k 60mins; Half marathon 2:06.30; Marathon 4:12.00.

If these specs are suitable for your needs, great. You can pick up a budget treadmill for less than £150. If they’re not, we suggest taking a look at the JLL S300 or the Reebok ZR8. Failing that, take a look at our Best Treadmills 2017 article for a broad look at the top running machine’s the industry has to offer.

On the plus side, the Finether treadmill has a reasonably sized running surface, measuring in at 98 x 36cm. We suggest staying away from any running machines under 35cm as the landing area for your feet is too small.

This machine can also be manually set to three levels of incline. Doing so is a little fiddly – the best running machine let you set incline via the motor – requiring you to remove the reinforced pin, tilt a plastic heel, and reinsert the pin to create the incline.

Finether Running Machine review: Monitor and dashboard

Finether Running Machine review 2Climb on the Finether Running Machine and you’ll be facing a small LED monitor flanked by several buttons. Operating the machine is very simple. It has four buttons – Power, Increase Speed, Decrease Speed, and Mode.

Pressing Mode will let you cycle through the displays different function. Here you can track your speed, time, distance, calories burned and heart rate. The treadmill uses two palm readers to track your pulse, these can be found on each of the machine’s handrails.

Those planning to use the Finether Running Machine for running longer distances will be disappointed to learn that there isn’t a built-in smartphone or tablet holder. A feature that most good and bad treadmills now have a standard to allow runners to watch a video or listen to music while training. See also:  The 6 BEST Home Rowing Machines of 2017.

Finether Running Machine review: Build quality and maintenance

It’s largely built. Users will need to set aside 30 minutes to an hour to erect the treadmill. This work only involves inserting a few bolts, which is easy to do and can be done with the Alan key and spanner that come with the packaging.

When you’re not using the treadmill, it can be folded in half and stored easily – thanks to built-in rollers – anywhere in your home. Folding machine is a painless experience thanks to its quick release locks.

It’s a low maintenance machine too. You can thank its lack of features for that. But, like any machine, it’s running belt will need regular lubrication with silicone oil. This can cost as little as £8 for 500ml.

Once bought, the machine has a generous 3-year warranty on all parts.

Finether Running Machine review: Verdict

This running machine is all about its price. Costing less than £150 this treadmill offers the basics and nothing more. Its 10KPH top speed isn’t going to help you break any records, but it’s fast enough for most amateur runners.
