Parlux Powerlight review: Performance
Weighing just 452g, this is a remarkable hairdryer. Its performance is equal to other blow dryers that weigh twice as much. And cost twice as much too.
Powering the Parlux Powerlight is an impressive 2150W motor. As we explain in our best hairdryers roundup, the wattage of a motor isn’t everything. But in this case, its a fair barometer of the hairdryer’s performance which has been measured at 79 cubic meters per hour.

A powerful motor usually results in a lot of noise too. Parlux has countered this by designing the Powerlight with a built-in silencer. This doesn’t mean that its a totally silenced hairdryer, but its quiet enough to hold close to your head and still be able to hear a conversation int he same room. Just.

This hairdryer isn’t simply a gale force of the wind. It boasts a ceramic heating element which regulates air temperature almost as consistently as the digital motors you’ll find in more expensive hairdryers like the Dyson Supersonic.
Alongside the ceramic heating element is an ionizer. All good hairdryers have these. They’re used to create millions of negatively-charged ions. These ions help reduce frizz, increase shine and breaks down water molecules faster.
Parlux Powerlight review: Ease of use
The Powerlight is very easy to use. It comes with two-speed settings and three heat settings: medium; high; and Cool Shot (cold). That’s it. From here, using the Parlux Powerlight is as simple as plugging in the device’s ample 3m power cord, attaching one of the two concentrator nozzles that come bundled, and toggling your speed/power settings.
Users will love the versatility the Parlux Powerlight gives them. Using a combination maximum speed and heat will dry hair in minutes. Settings can then be turned down to medium power and heat for styling to reduce frizz and increase shine. Finally, the Cool Shot mode lets users perform the final 10% of drying with cold air, which is designed to lock hair in place for longer.
Parlux Powerlight review: Verdict
There’s so much to like about this hairdryer. Its price is really competitive; The motor’s power rivals any product on the market; Its ceramic heating element controls and regulates air temperature well; And at 452g it’s impressively light.
