Should I buy the Hoover FD22L Freedom Lite?
Yes. If you’re on a budget and you want a cordless vacuum cleaner to tackle small, lightly soiled, areas. It’s perfect. However, don’t confuse this cordless vacuum as a replacement for your traditional vacuum. It’s better to use this as a supplementary tool to help you stay on top of keeping your floors clean.

Hoover FD22L Freedom Lite review: Battery life and power
The Hoover FD22L Freedom Lite comes with a lithium battery that’s capable of lasting up to 20 minutes. This isn’t breaking records in terms of battery life. But, as we discussed earlier, it’s more than enough time to quickly vacuum a few rooms, or a light spill, to help you stay on top of your chores.

The other important feature to consider here is the materials the battery is made from. Lithium is the modern battery of choice. It’s much lighter than the older lead-acid batteries and its lifespan is significantly longer too – you should experience (close to) a lossless battery performance.
Given the 20-minute run time. The device’s charging time is a little disappointing. Charging from empty-to-full takes 8 hours. That said, charging time is an area where you can expect budget devices to cut corners. If this is a deal-breaker, fear not, more expensive cordless vacuums boast faster charge times.
Powering the Hoover FD22L Freedom Lite is a 22v cyclonic motor. Again, this isn’t the best on the market by a long way. And it will struggle with heavily-matted pet hair and similarly tough areas. But it’s powerful enough for the majority of tasks. Freshly walked-in dirt, kitchen spills and general dust are sucked up with ease.

Hoover FD22L Freedom Lite review: Design and attachments
As you can see, the Hoover Freedom Lite is a good-looking device and at 2kg, it’s lightweight too. But it’s lacking in a few key areas. Perhaps the most disappointing of all is the lack of a wall-mounted charging bracket – a feature that encapsulates the convenience of cordless vacuum cleaners. Instead, users will have to plug in a charging cable.
The FD22L comes with only two attachments. The standard vacuum brush head and an accompanying tool. There are no specials tools for pet hair, upholstery cleaning or large/small dusters.

Hoover FD22L Freedom Lite review: Verdict
The Hoover FD22L Freedom Lite is really well priced cordless vacuum cleaner. Costing less than £100, there’s a lot in its arsenal to like. However, we’d suggest that this cordless device is designed to be used as a supplementary vacuum cleaner. Its 20-minute battery life will struggle to clean any home bigger than a small apartment, while it’s lack of attachments, and raw suction power, also make it unsuitable. That said, it’s a great device for rapidly cleaning 2-3 rooms or a lightly-soiled area.
