ghdGHD Aura review: Technology
The GHD Aura debuts two new bits of technology. The Cool-Wall Nozzle and Laminair technology.
Cool-Wall Nozzle: This is a new feature that keeps the outer casing and nozzle cool during use. It’s designed to let users work much closer to the hair and scalp.
Laminair technology: This produces 42% more concentrated air (compared to previous models). Again, this has been designed to allow more precision when drying hair letting you focus on one section of hair without disturbing other areas.
Elsewhere is a 1600W motor driving the air flow. This is complemented by a ceramic/ionic heating element. The ceramic element is used to prevent the unit from getting too hot which allows users to get more precise with a hairdryer. This is combined with ionic technology. Hairdryers use ionic technology to produce millions of ions which are then used to break down water molecules faster.
ghd claims the use of these technologies makes hair up to 40% shinier than previous models.
ghd Aura review: Design and settings
Like all ghd hairdryers, this is a really well-built device. It’s comfortable to hold, and use, in either hand and feels nicely balanced. It’s achieved this by completely removing the power supply from the gun, positioning it a few feet further down the cable. This redistributes the 1.54kg weight nicely, keeping, much of the bulk out of your hands.
It comes with a massive 4m power cord and accompanying cable ties to keep things tidy.
The power settings are pretty standard for a ghd. There are three levels of power and three temperature levels. It also features ghd’s Cool Shot mode, designed to let you complete the final 10% of hair drying with cool air, this lets you maximise hold/style.
ghd Aura review: Verdict
Behind the Dyson Supersonic, the ghd Aura is the second best hairdryer you can buy. It lets you get more precise with your blow dry than any of its rivals or predecessors. It also makes use of brand new research and development that prevent overheating and hair damage.
